  18. This program requires the files VBRUN100.DLL & VBTOOLS.VBX. If you
  19. did not get them with WINWHEEL, then please contact your shareware vendor.

  25. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  26.  
  27. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  28. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  29. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  30. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  31. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  32. registration of WINWHEEL, you get the most recent revision of
  33. the program and database with over 11,000 puzzles.
  34. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  35. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  36. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  37. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  38. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  39. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  40. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  41. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  42. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  43. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  44. Shareware.
  45. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
  46. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  47. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  48. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
  49. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
  50. has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  51. product, you don't pay for it.

  60. quential, which may result from the use of WINWHEEL."

  62. There is a known problem with WINWHEEL and some other Windows
  63. programs when used at resolutions higher than standard VGA (640 X480)
  64. on graphic cards using the Tseng video chipset. The Orchid ProDesigner II
  65. and SpeedStar cards are known to have this problem. The buttons will be
  66. improperly placed on the screen. The only solution at this time is to run
  67. WINWHEEL in VGA mode, not Super VGA mode.

  69. WINWHEEL V.1.2 is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  70. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  71. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  72. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  73. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  74. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  75. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
  76. useful and find that you are using WINWHEEL and continue to use
  77. WINWHEEL after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
  78. istration payment of $19.00 to Russell Mueller.  The $19.00
  79. registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  80. computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like
  81. a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  82. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  83. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  84. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  85. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  86. same time.

  89. copies of WINWHEEL within 30 days of first use or their license
  90. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting

  93. Anyone distributing WINWHEEL for any kind of remuneration must
  94. first contact Russell Mueller at the address below for authorization.

  96. You are encouraged to pass a copy of WINWHEEL V.1.2 along to your
  97. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  98. copy if they find that they can use it.  All registered users
  99. will receive a copy of the latest version of the WINWHEEL
  100. system, software support via mail, and free upgrades/fixes for 90 days
  101. from date of registration.

  103. WINWHEEL, EGAWHEEL, and VGAWHEEL have been found to be useful to educators
  104. at all levels.  These programs are being used for improving language skills
  105. in the English language. EGAWHEEL and VGAWHEEL are DOS programs nearly
  106. identical to WINWHEEL, without the requirement for Microsoft Windows or a
  107. mouse.  They also contain a built-in editor which may be used to create a
  108. custom database of puzzles for education and entertainment.  Please contact
  109. the author for a site-license agreement with quantity discount.

  123. rules and are prone to fighting when one player monopolizes
  124. the Wheel.

  126. puzzles, especially those which pertain to U.S. television celebrities or
